The Photo Guessing Game

We look at quite a few T-shirts over here at Rumplo, and it's pretty easy to notice that every T-shirt shop has a style of its own. Some shops are into goofy humor, others into clever design patterns, others into awesome typography, etc. Every shop has its own particular style of photography, too, and if you're a Rumplo regular you've probably gotten pretty good at spotting a shop purely by the photo style it employs. We thought we'd give you a chance to test your T-shirt knowledge and see how many shops you can recognize by their product photography. If nothing else it's an entertaining look at photographic choices and expertise:

Colorful Politics from Print Liberation

Every few weeks we spot a new Print Liberation tee on Rumplo and we chuckle at it's boldness or gusto (or strangeness, in the case of the Palin tee). We're not into picking sides on the political spectrum over here at Rumplo, but we certainly enjoy the free spirited gumption that Print Liberation puts into their political shirts. No one will doubt which side you're on wearing one of their tees.

Check out all the Print Liberation Tees on Rumplo.

Tiny Trends, Part 5

The T-shirt Tuxedo

Scientists recently discovered that it is nearly impossible for college students to resist these T-shirts. Something to do with slowing breaking oneself into a suit and tie, even if it's just for special occasions. Luckily for you the fake clothes tag on Rumplo has a plethora of new Tux Tees of all colors and shapes. They work well for taking the real tux down a notch, too.

The Mustache

Fashion choice or cliche disguise? The mustache has a long past, peppered with instances of greatness and, well, jocular ridicule and a decade of almost complete absence. Lucky for you, you need not grow a mustache to take part in its resurgence, you can just wear one of many mustache tees.

Should This Trend Die?

We're not really into negative trends here at Rumplo HQ, but we can't help but wonder how long the legs on this meme will last. Any thoughts? Any chance anything new will come out of this form?

Graniph's Gold Standard

Yashka Steiner Takabatake Sereni
Kovala Rik Lee Osada

Graniph, the T-shirt powerhouse based in Japan, has long been on our list of favorite T-shirt shops (Yes, we keep a list. It's hidden away in my fridge). And we've always appreciated Graniph's persistence in trying to produce T-shirts that literally act as canvases for well known artists' illustrations, photos, etc., even if they sometimes miss the mark in mixing that popular art and the T-shirt's form perfectly. Long story short: When Graniph finished it's second annual International T-shirt Competition and the winning T-shirts went on sale we were stoked. And we are once again impressed by the breadth of art they've screened onto their tees, all from a great crew of up and coming artists. This is the kind of thing we always imagined big T-shirt shops would be doing and Graniph does it very well.

Browse Graniph's latest tees on Rumplo.

Also, we'd love to hear what you think about the Grahiph's latest tees, and about what art you think does or doesn't translates well onto T-shirts. Comment away!

Tiny Trends, Part 4

Random Stuff

We can imagine this trend going horribly wrong (think sporting equipment), but sometimes a bunch of differnet shapes, colors, and random stuff just works. Yes, there is also danger that a thousand designers will go around picking stuff up of the street and throwing it on a tee, eventually littering the world with a crowd of people with random stuff all over them. Please consider that before you design your next tee ;) More at the stuff tag on Rumplo.

Skulls

Skulls as pop art? Yep. Skulls as cute things? You bet. Skulls that make it easy to take yourself too seriously? Maybe. Skull fans have been around forever, so calling this a trend would be like calling death a trend, but these do seem pretty popular. More Skull Tees here.

Bears!

This one's an oldie but a goodie. People really, really love bears. All kinds. Doesn't matter. We got your cute bears and your angry bears and even your Environmentally conscious bears. More bear tees here. Rarwr!
